Arrived in New York on Monday afternoon (Feb. 15th). Found Anne doing laundry and eating at Phoebe’s in Williamsburg. Anne, Lindsey, and I did some errands with the Civic, then came back to her place to make salad and couscous (my signature dishes) and drink fancy liquors out of dollar store glasses. We finished the night off with a plate of chocolates and some drinks at Daddy’s down the street.
Yesterday, we went to brunch at Fabiane’s (delish). After, we stopped at Catbird and saw these earrings. They’re called pirate ship earrings but I think it’s pretty clear they’re viking ships, making it my genetic duty to purchase them.
Last night, Anne and I met her friends at Peking Duck. We ate three ducks, some apps, and Anne’s bullshit vegetarian stuff. (“Mmm, this veggie duck really does taste like duck!” “Anne, have you ever had duck?” “What? Nooooo…”) Then we all got into the back of a van and squeezed a boob until we got to Lucy’s, where Lucy herself made vague approximations of our drink orders. I was lucky enough to see Aaron, Asad, and Randy. Randy was in for the long haul - he stayed at Jane and Drew’s place with us until 4:30, even after the dance party started and Scandal humped my leg a bunch.
So, today was lazy because we went to bed so late. Luckily, Asad’s awesome and brought Anne and me Dunkin’ Donuts in bed. I’m writing this while Anne’s at work - about to take a shower and head to Asad’s for dinner and then PDT for drinks with Kyra.

.First Weekend : February 12th-15th.

The road trip officially began early Friday afternoon, February 12th. The road to Ithaca was lined with barren open land, with a few hiccups of farm houses or fuel stations. Everything seemed especially monochromatic.
The last hour of the drive is on a one lane road and I couldn’t even get an NPR station, it was so remote. Luckily, I managed to avoid being pulled over, but they nailed Jason with a speeding ticket and for being on the phone with me, (I was calling him because James wasn’t picking up his phone - he was playing Street Fighter).
When I finally arrived and James finally picked up his phone, I found him on the side of the road and drove him back to his dorm, Hughes Hall, a.k.a. Big Victor’s old stomping grounds. In their excitement for our arrival, James and his friends purchased a keg of Genny Light and set it up in the common room. The party actually got up to about 25 people, surpassing the numbers for Bear Party II.
Cornell, like many colleges, is up on the top of a hill. Such placement removes it from the surrounding town, giving it great views but a killer walk to and from most of the bars, restaurants, shops, etc. in Ithaca Commons. We braved the walk a few times on Saturday, though - to explore (a la David Field), see The Hurt Locker (Avatar beat that movie at the Globes? What?), and eat at Wildfire, which was delicious but a little pricey, and later to attend a gay party in a loft above Sarah Devlin’s favorite bar, which was very fun and did not lack for dancing or Gaga.
Sunday night we vaped and played video games - best VD day ever.
I left Monday morning happy and tired, as two nights of sleeping on the floor can do to you. I also felt I had brought some joy to the lives of those poor, hard-working law nerds.
